BIMI & your logo in the inbox
BIMI puts your verified logo right next to your name in the inbox — instant recognition and a trust signal. It only works on top of strong authentication, which is exactly the point: it rewards senders who do things right.
What you'll need
- A sending domain with DMARC at enforcement (p=quarantine or p=reject)
- Your logo as an SVG (BIMI profile)
- A Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) for the strongest support
How BIMI works
You publish a BIMI record pointing to your logo, and — for the widest support — a Verified Mark Certificate that proves you own the mark. Climails validates the VMC so you know it's correct before you rely on it.
- DMARC enforcement is a prerequisite — BIMI won't show without it.
- The VMC is an X.509 certificate carrying the BIMI indicator; Climails checks its issuer, validity dates and that it's a proper BIMI cert.
- Supporting inboxes then show your logo next to authenticated mail.
Set it up
- 1
Get DMARC to enforcement
Move your DMARC policy from p=none to p=quarantine or p=reject once your legitimate mail is passing.
- 2
Publish your logo and VMC
Add the BIMI DNS record for your SVG logo and, ideally, your VMC.
- 3
Validate in Climails
Climails verifies the VMC (subject, issuer, validity, BIMI indicator) so you catch problems before inboxes do.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a VMC?
For the broadest support (including Gmail and Apple), yes — the VMC proves the logo is really yours. Climails validates it for you.
Why isn't my logo showing?
The usual cause is DMARC not at enforcement, or an invalid/expired VMC. Climails' validation points at which one.
