Preference center & unsubscribes
Giving people easy control over what they receive is both the law and the best way to protect your reputation. Climails hosts a preference center, honors one-click unsubscribe, and keeps per-channel suppression lists so a opted-out contact is never messaged again.
The hosted preference center
Every contact gets a personal preference page reached through a signed link in your footers — no login required, and the link can't be tampered with.
- Toggle individual lists on or off instead of an all-or-nothing unsubscribe.
- Manage channel identities (email, phone) on file.
- Unsubscribe from everything in one click.
One-click unsubscribe
Marketing email includes the List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post headers, so Gmail and Apple Mail show a native “Unsubscribe” button that works in a single tap — required by bulk-sender rules and great for your reputation.
Suppression lists
Suppressions are the safety net: an address or number on the suppression list is skipped on every send, automatically.
- Per channel — suppressing an email doesn't block the same person's SMS, and vice versa.
- Automatic — hard bounces and complaints add a suppression with a reason (e.g. bounce_hard).
- Manual — add a suppression yourself via Settings or POST /v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}/suppressions.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone unsubscribe from one list but keep others?
Yes — the preference center has per-list toggles, so they keep the mail they want and drop what they don't.
Is the preference link secure?
Yes. It's signed, so it identifies the contact without a login and can't be altered to access someone else's preferences.
If an email hard-bounces, will we keep emailing it?
No — a hard bounce adds a per-channel suppression automatically, so that address is skipped on future sends.
